October: Perfect Time for Fall Health Tune Up!
October is a triple threat for wellness. It’s National Ergonomics, Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Month after all. It's also, we think, the perfect time of year for a general health tune up, to pay attention to any aches and pains, sports injuries or even things like workplace posture that can really affect how you feel. Here are a few things to think about to get you on the right track for fall.
Four Fall Health Tune-Up Tips:
1. Workplace Posture – if you sit at a desk, some simple adjustments to how you sit and work can really help with general aches and pains. Keep your computer at eye level to avoid tilting your neck, sit with your back straight and feet planted on the floor and use a lumbar support to prevent slouching.
2. Chiropractic Treatment and Massage – don’t dismiss anything that help tune up sore muscles and aching joints. One or two visits to the chiropractor in October can begin to improve joint mobility, loosen tight muscles, decrease inflammation and align your spine and other joints for better function.
3. Meditation and Relaxation – we all deal with too much stress. While you might not have time to join a full meditation or yoga class, try using FitnessOnDemand virtual content at the gym or on the mobile app. Dial up a guided meditation, stretching and relaxation class or even try a new yoga workout on your own time and terms.
4. Physical Therapy – lastly, if you’ve been putting off PT for a minor injury that occurred during the summer, don’t wait any longer. Proper physical therapy can improve flexibility, balance and joint health as well as help you recover.
