This month’s behind the scenes look at the people of FitnessOnDemand talks with new digital media team member addition Jon Gerken.
Q: Jon, you’re new to FitnessOnDemand, right? What is your role here?
I am! And happy to be here. I joined the digital media team in December of last year before the holidays. My role is new – as we add more depth to the content team. I’ll be handling a lot of management duties relating to optimizing and organizing the content from our fitness producer partners, managing the ever-growing library of classes, workouts and instructor sessions for FOD customers and also working with them on their content needs.
Q: Are you new to the Fitness Industry?
Not at all. I came to FitnessOnDemand from Lifetime Fitness where I spent a couple of years working in real estate development for new club construction and remodels. But I’ve also always been interested and involved with fitness. I rowed in college on the crew team at Iowa State, I’m an avid weight lifter and right now, in the winter, busy with Nordic and Cross country ski. I love staying fit and active – and it’s been more essential this past year than ever.
Q: What’s the most unexpected and fun part of your job so far?
Well to be honest, the fact that I joined FOD during 2020 when, like many companies, our team is all virtual and remote. But we have a huge advantage in running a virtual team – our entire business is about virtual experiences, digital content and connecting seamlessly. It’s also a lot of fun working in a fast-paced environment, helping all kinds of club, corporate and multi-family clients keep their customers, members and users fit and happy. I worked out in LA for a few years as an executive assistant to the CEO of a corporate planning company and demanding clients and where every day was different – so I’m ready for whatever my new role brings and I'm happy to start off this new year with FitnessOnDemand.
