The 3 Reasons Why Talks With Director of Business Development, Armin Krienke
In our continuing series, showcasing the people and skills of FitnessOnDemand, this month 3 Reasons Why checks in with Armin Krienke, Director of Business Development
Q: Armin, you have a new role at FOD – can you tell us about that?
Absolutely – I was just named Director of Business Development, and I’m thrilled. But it’s really more of an official recognition of responsibilities I have had for some time. Right now, I am focused on several important areas. Firstly: how do we really build ongoing close relationships with our current customers in the health club category, ensuring we provide stellar customer support, service and act as a true partner. But I am also in charge of building FitnessOnDemand business in fast-growing industries like hospitality and multi-family luxury condo developments. We’re seeing a lot of interest in on-demand fitness content and support in those areas from developers and building owners who realize that attracting and retaining guests and residents is about creating truly a truly exceptional and personalized experience within their walls.
Q: That sounds like a very full plate? Hopefully you have some help?
Haha. I do. I manage a sales development team of six and I also oversee strategic partnerships with a network of on-the-ground representatives who help FitnessOnDemand provide localized support and market knowledge to our customers in hundreds of markets across the country. Having great help – people who can anticipate and understand our customers’ needs and folks who really know their markets, frees up some of my time and enables me to think about some of the bigger picture. Things like how can we continue to provide hands on support and services wherever customers need it, but also scale efficiently across the club, hospitality and multi-family categories and grow our partnerships with our corporate and multi-venue customers.
Q: How did you first get into the fitness industry? Was it always a goal?
I have been in fitness for as long as I have been working. I was actually FitnessOnDemand’s third employee, but I got my start at the age of 15 with LifeTime Fitness, collecting towels to begin with, and working with them all the way through college. Mid way through school they offered me an Operations Manager position, putting me in charge of the club’s non-financial operations. I loved it and had plans to be a General Manager, so I went in to sales and sold memberships to learn as much as I could about that side of the business. I ended up being Sales Manager and in 2010 was headhunted by Snap Fitness, a sister-company to FitnessOnDemand.
I’ve done so much in the fitness industry, but am still energized and feel most days like I’m really just getting started.
